Innovative learning designer with 15+ years’ experience. I am passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences, with a diverse social services and behavioral sciences background, allowing me to identify learning solutions that leverage human-centered design.

WHERE I SHINE

UNIQUE APPROACH

HUMAN-CENTERED LEARNING DESIGN

  • Social work education and background grounded my design approach to focus on human behavior'

  • The importance of culture, the power of peer leadership, and necessity of manager buy-in inform my approach to creating meaningful learning experiences.

BEHAVIOR CHANGE FOCUS

  • Understanding the "why" behind human behavior (current and desired) drives my assessment and design of learning

  • Success requires learning design to understand motivation, explicit and implicit, value learner's experiences, include experiential activities and supply resources at the moment of need.

DESIGN APPROACH

  • Utilize instructional design best practices and apply appropriate models or combination of models, such as ADDIE, AGILE, or Design-Thinking based on business needs and timeline

  • Incorporate best practices from industry leaders and philosophies including: Rapid Task Analysis, 5 Moments of Need, Behavior Economics, Science of Learning, Visual Design Principles, and more.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

TRANSFORMED LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND APPROACH TO SKILL DEVELOPMENT

  • Collaborated with the executive leadership team to identify leadership skill gaps, critical competencies, and desired behaviors required to achieve business outcomes.

  • Executed end-to-end design and implementation of a 12-month blended learning program for location managers that incorporates self-paced learning activities, classroom, and virtual group sessions, adaptable assignments based on manager and location needs, peer-to-peer, learning, individual coaching, capstone project and achieving certification standards to complete the program.

  • Key leadership skills and strategies used in the program were presented to all levels of leadership at the 2023 bi-annual manager meeting, resulting in Company-wide common language, competencies, and expectations for leadership roles.

DESIGNED AND IMPLEMENTED PERSPECTIVE CHANGING SIMULATION

  • Partnered with state and local agencies and identified critical gaps in child welfare workers' knowledge of children's and families' experiences.

  • Created a 90-minute interactive simulation where participants took on the role of a child or adult involved in the child welfare system and experienced the challenges, lack of control, unrealistic expectations, and intense consequences in their journey.

  • Immediately following the simulation, participants shared they gained a new perspective about the families experiences and recognition of the unintended consequences of their actions.

  • Simulation was conducted as part of full-day workshop, at state-wide conferences, with Junior League of America groups, train the trainer materials created and it continues to be sold on the Children's Alliance of Kansas website: childally.org/mapp-store/p/simulation

ENGAGING AND IMPACTFUL FACILITATOR/NATIONAL SPEAKER
